FYI a postcode near to the start for Sat navs is:
WD18 7LH
The final XC fixture of this season is at Watford's Cassiobury Park. Starting at 11am for a distance of approx 6.2 miles of park and forest land. We will be meeting at the centre to leave at 9.30 am. Lets try for a full team of men and ladies for this last race.
More details -
Please park away from the sports clubs and do not use their car parks.
The course will be 6.2 miles starting at 11:00 in Cassiobury Park.
The same course as last year. Best shoe will probably be a stud as the path up to the woods has been 'improved'.There will be a section at the start and finish in the park. The route will then head over the bridges & turn up to the woods. There will be 2 laps in the woods before returning to the park to finish.
There will be no showers, but hot food and drinks will be available in the bar. No muddy shoes in the hall.
Sunday League at Royston - 3 January 2010.
The fourth Sunday League race will be on 3 January. The event will be hosted by Royston Runners and will be held on Therfield Heath, Royston. The Race HQ will be The Heath Sports Centre, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG. The Centre has good changing and showering facilities. It also has a licensed bar that serves food.
This is a joint race, starting at 11.00am. Both women and men will run about 5 miles.
The course will be the same as last year. There will be one small lap and two large laps. The course is mostly across open downland and is hilly. It is suitable for spikes, studs or trail shoes.
Please note that all muddy footwear must be removed before entering the sports centre, especially spikes.
The centre management would appreciate it if runners would use the rear entrance, nearest the tennis courts, to access the changing areas. This will enable the reception area to remain clear.
Travel: Car – there is plenty of car parking on the Heath. The car park does get busy, especially if the weather is fine, so car sharing is advisable, where practical. Train (if coming from London) – from Kings Cross to Royston station. Take either the 8.48am (arriving at 9.36am), or the 8.59am (arriving at 10.04am). The Heath is 15 minutes walk from the station

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU !!!
The Cross Country season is upon us once again and the call to Queen and Club goes out again. Ignore the viscious rumours that you have heard about mud, hills, rain, wind and cold. These are just malicious tales of propaganda circulated by the opposition. Think of it more as an easy Sunday morning jog through gently rolling countryside in refreshing weather, listening to the twitter of birds under a clear blue winter's sky. It is now even easier to enlist (sorry volunteer). Just approach any member of the Committee, take the Queen's shilling and you are in! As easy as that. The benefits are many and vast, too many to mention here. It is best to ask after your first race. I think that's enough said on this subject for the time being. The dates for future venues are in this section, so answer the call to the colours and do your bit for club and Country.
Cross country training
Some Members are doing some great Sunday morning cross country training runs at the moment. The normal distance run is circa 10 miles although shorter routes are available. The runs start from various locations. Normally meeting in car parks within Epping Forest, or sometimes leaving from the sports centre. Everybody is welcome on these runs whether running in the cross country league or not. The pace of the run is dictated by the slowest runner. At various points around most of the runs the slower runners can cut out sections of the course meeting up with the main group a little later. Always check with Dave Knight,Frank Brownlie or Roberto Bruni. Also you can join Facebook (East London Runners) group page which will show both the meeting time, distance and location of the runs.
